Merzouga

The Erg Chebbi Dunes are the most spectacular in Morocco. In the southeastern zone, close to the Algerian border, they are also often called Merzouga Dunes. Erg Chigaga, south of Ouarzazate, is where the “sea” of sand is most extensive (40×15 kilometres). But Erg Chebbi has, by far, the highest dunes in the country, reaching 250m in height! This is, without a doubt, one of the most impressive places in Morocco and, therefore, very sought after by tourists whose interest has been awakened by the media attention given by international off-road competitions such as the Dakar or the Africa Race.
